The COVID-19 epidemic masterfully exposed our analogue and digitization gaps. Several areas are crackling under the weight of the pandemic and the changes it caused in our lives, and it would be an illusion to think that the problems that come to light would recede as the pandemic subsides.
Solving large-scale problems can hardly be done without technology: 5G, artificial intelligence, blockchain, Big Data, and IoT are exponential forces that allow us to approach problems on a larger scale. We now need to address the seemingly new challenges posed by COVID-19, and it is more important than ever that we do not create new problems with our ideas and that our innovations have a positive impact on society in years to come. Crisis-proof, time-resistant and sustainable digital solutions are needed in areas that appear to be most vulnerable to the pandemic.
The ICT Association of Hungary and CVTI SR are organising an online designathon to find breakthrough innovation ideas in two sectors that received a clear „additional” impetus due the COVID 2019 pandemic to proceed with the digitisation process: eHealth and food industry.
The designathon has the ambitious aim to not only find viable digital solutions for pre-defined issues in these two fields but to find solutions that are driven and accepted by the society. These responsible innovations are expected to better serve the needs and expectations of the society while at the same time they will provide innovative solutions to solve identified challenges.
Our aim is to attract Hungarian speaking participants from all over the world, but especially from the Carpathian-Basin to work together on pre-defined challenges. If you have ICT or social sciences background and you would like to think together and jointly develop new innovation ideas, than join our event which is free of charge. Teams of 4-5 people having interdisciplinary background will work during 48 hours to fine-tune their initial ideas and pitch to a jury of well-acknowledge experts and compete for valuable prizes.
Main topics:
- eHealth
- Health screening of the rural population (low standard of health and personal infrastructure). Communication and awareness reaising possibilities related to this issue.
- Role of local groups in the health system – prevention, sustainability etc.
- Food industry
- Food production adapted to nutrition needs
- handling surplus
- food delivery solutions in the light of COVID 2019
- food safety – supply chains
- Societal aspects of establishing short food chains – what facilitates and what hinders this process?
Deadline for applications: February 10, 2021
