An event with 3 distinct elements, the Policy conference, the Marketplace and the "Science is wonderful" exhibition.
Europe is well known for the excellent quality of its scientific and technological research, which has always been a top priority of the European Union.
The figures speak for themselves, with €200 billion invested in EU research and innovation over the last 30 years. The EU’s main instruments for the funding of research and innovation in Europe are the successive multiannual framework programmes. Throughout the years, the EU’s investments in research and innovation have become more effective so that for the current programme, Horizon 2020, and Horizon Europe, the next generation, each euro invested by the programme can potentially generate a return of up to 11 euro of GDP over the 25 years.
Research and innovation are at the core of Europe’s economy and are vital for a sustainable and successful society.
The European Research and Innovation Days launched in 2019 is an annual policy event bringing together world leaders from industry, finance, academia and business to debate and shape the future research and innovation landscape.
At the same time, it aims to mobilize all EU citizens and increase the general awareness and understanding of how important research and innovation are in addressing societal challenges. A celebration of the very best research and innovation Europe has to offer, from light-bulb moments to world-beating new technologies.
This year Research & Innovation Days will go ahead as a fully virtual event.
