Human Brain Project has recently open four calls for Expressions of Interest to look for potential new Partners to submit proposals that will directly contribute to the development of the HBP Platforms (that will ultimately become the HBP-Joint Platform) and increase the scope of their application, in terms of neuroscience and clinical research. The deadline for submission for all calls is 30 September 2017. The selected Partners will become full Partners in the HBP Consortium. The projects will run from April 2018 to March 2020 (SGA2 phase). These calls have a substantial amount of funding, and have the aim of fostering new collaborations across the full width of the HBP Subprojects and the scientific community:
Co-designing the HBP digital infrastructure for advancing the understanding of multilevel brain organization (EUR 1,839,424.00; split between two selected proposals). Co-designing the HBP digital infrastructure for advancing the understanding of multilevel brain organization aims to help neuroscientist and clinical researchers integrate data and knowledge about the brain across all levels of its spatial and temporal organization, to provide an integrated framework to federate and analyze massive volumes of brain data. To accomplish so, it is important that the proposals for this call bridge or integrate the activities of at least 3 subprojects of HBP. Coordination of Data Protection in the HBP (EUR 318,750.00; one proposal will be selected). Some of the activities requested for the Coordination of Data Protection in the HBP include to do an impact assessment of the privacy and data protection, to perform a review of the processes of data protection to ensure that the HBP and its partners are in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation, and to communicate the requirements and responsibilities to all partners involved in human data collection and processing. Modelling Allosteric Drugs (EUR 225,000.00; one proposal will be selected). CDP6 – Modelling Allosteric Drugs calls for novel molecular-simulation based research efforts to accelerate the discovery of new and more effective treatments, based in allosteric mechanisms, reducing side effects whilst speeding up and drastically lowering the costs of drug discovery. Coordination of Gender Equality Activities (156,250.00 EUR; one proposal will be selected). The main objective of the Coordination of Gender Equality Activities is to ensure the continuity of the tasks of the Gender Advisory Committee, including organizing a Gender conference, encouraging mentoring programs within HBP, and to promote gender balance in leadership, education and training activities Further details on the Call and submission process can be found here.
